Fateh Al Moudarres Representing Syria

Fateh Al Moudarres, (1922-1999)  Born in Aleppo, Fateh Al Moudarres is regarded as one of the most famous and influential Syrian artists. Al Moudarres graduated from the Accademia di Belle Arti di Roma in 1960, then from Paris in 1972. He taught at the Faculty of Fine Arts, Damascus University until 1993, and won many awards and garters in several Arab and European countries.

He held many solo exhibitions, the first of which was in Aleppo, then in Sweden, New York, Rome, Munich, Paris, Beirut, and Dubai. He also participated in group events and exhibitions in cities around the world. Al Moudarres was known for his philosophical ideas and inquiries and his critical art essays. He also wrote short stories.

Al Moudarres said his experience was inspired by the Syrian art heritage. He developed his own personalized language as an expressionist, with a special interest in dramatic color and form.
