Erro Representing Iceland

Erro was born in 1932 in Olafsvik, Iceland, and studied at Reykjavik, Oslo, and Florence Academies of Art. He began his professional career creating mosaic murals in Iceland, but after moving to Paris in 1958, he became involved in avant garde activities, creating happenings and films, writing poetically and polemically.

 

ERRO became one of Europe's best known Pop artists (originally as Gudmundur Ferró, which name he shortened in 1967. Erro has exhibited worldwide and among his museum shows Include: Jerusalem (Bezalel Museum) and Haifa (Museum of Modern Art) Israel, Paris (A.R.C. Museum of Modern Art), Galliera Museum, Centre Pompidou, Palace of Congress), Reykjavik, and Munich among others.
