Art Beyond Borders - Current Exhibition
Several years ago TIMOTCA was invited to the United Nations for an encore of the highly praised and expanded Art Beyond Borders exhibition. When UN officials were advised that TIMOTCA had added several new works, among them a Tibetan painting, the office of the Secretary-General of the United Nations presented TIMOTCA with an ultimatum - either remove the Tibetan work or cancel the exhibition. True to our mission, there was no choice – TIMOTCA cancelled the exhibition.
We find ourselves in a similar position of creative restrictions with the long-planned Washington D.C. exhibition at the Organization of American States. Informed recently that OAS would decide which works of art could or could not be included in the exhibition - TIMOTCA once again was forced to make a difficult decision. Regretfully, the exhibition has been cancelled.
It is ironic that Art Beyond Borders has found borders that could not be crossed – in unlikely places.
