The TIMOTCA Cultural CentreThe 20th Century saw Earth become a global village; telecommunications shattered barriers of time and distance, and the Moon became a steppingstone to the starry realms once explored only by imagination. It is fitting that in the 21st Century the first truly global cultural center be established representing all the people of the Earth. Celebrating the world’s extraordinarily diverse cultures, the TIMOTCA Cultural Centre will provide a permanent festival for painters, sculptors, musicians, writers, dancers, photographers, filmmakers and artisans from every corner of the globe. The Centre will present an unprecedented educational, entertainment facility and an official forum for the development of international programs to promote cultural understanding and peaceful co-existence.

ARCHITECTURAL PHILOSOPHY
Jon Jerde - "The TIMOTCA Cultural Centre is not a building, rather it is a natural form, a quiet and anonymous "humbling machine" where global man can find humility, the kind of humility that brings radiance and humming, the kind of humility that artists have at the very moment of creation. TIMOTCA will feel like an Edo Garden; a natural setting designed with no evidence of man's role in its creation. Man is the neutral piece, and this place is a neutral place, designed for an 'us' culture. The architecture will not be 'staged', it will not be noisy. We believe spiritual places contain an architecture that you don't see, a quiet architecture. The structure will reflect the purpose to TIMOTCA's existence: to promote world peace through the arts. TIMOTCA will create a sense of tranquillity and reinforce the connection we all share with things larger than the earth-it will connect to the universe. The art will be inspired by the earth and its forces. In places the art is the earth, moving through time, a time based art. TIMOTCA will be added to as time goes on and as the global community evolves". "We find no vestige of a beginning, - no prospect of an end." James Hutton, Theory of the Earth, 1790
PEACE MONUMENTThe Peace Monument Plaza will be the helix - the meeting place - the axis upon which everything at the Centre turns. The Peace Monument and its Plaza will be an essentially interactive, state of the art, multi-sensory space with a sequence of experiences, formatted within the language of light, sound, image and energy, designed to harmonize and rejuvenate, to inform and expand the consciousness. Honoring the countries, their representing artists and visionaries around the world who participate in the realization of the TIMOTCA Centre, the Peace Monument will stand as a beacon of light, taking its place in history much like the ancient wonder of the world - the lighthouse of Alexandria.
GEOSPHERESituated in the Peace Monument Plaza, the TIMOTCA Geosphere will be a unique application of existing technology. The Geosphere Project is a whole earth three-dimensional image created from thousands of satellite photos of earth. With a diameter of 50 feet, the Centre Geosphere will illustrate the history of art on earth and worldwide cultural linkages
